- Selena H. Richard, 83, of Lake Leelanau, died Sunday at Grand Traverse Nursing Center, Traverse City, after a lengthy illness. The daughter of Philip and Alice Drow, she was born March 24, 1892 at Lake Leelanau, where she was a lifetime resident. She was married to George Richard on May 4, 1909 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake Leelanau, she was the first baby to baptized in the church, and a member of St. Mary's Altar Society. Mrs. Richard was a housewife, and for hobbies she was a seamstress and enjoyed gardening. Her husband, George, preceded her in death in 1953. Also preceding her were her parents; a daughter, Mrs. Ludwig (Marie) Kolarik; five sisters and three brothers. Surviving are four daughters, Sister Thomas Bernard of the Dominican Order of Muskegon, Mrs. Bernard (R. Bessie) Schultz of Villa Park, Ill., Mrs. Alfred (Inez) Kirt of Cedar and Mrs. Raymond (Edna) Maleski of Muskegon; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four sisters Mrs. William (Josephine) Beaudet of Canada, Mrs. Cecile (Elizabeth) Theile of Muskegon, Mrs. Philip (Loyla) Brow of Lake Leelanau, Mrs. Leslie (Elenor) Hutchinson of Lake Leelanau. A funeral mass has been scheduled for 10 a.m at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lake Leelanau, with Father Patrick Barrett, celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 9 Ray and Robert Matison Funeral Home in Suttons Bay.
